As the Seed Fall Moon rises, the final harvest is here. The seeds for next spring are planted; now it’s time to come inside and write the Lore.
In July 2025, I stripped away my modern comforts and went in search of my true self. It became a real soul-searching adventure—a journey to discover my true identity.
It took me a year to get there. I uncovered layers of family secrets and, along the way, became a nomad, living and working with Buddhafield, an organisation that creates meditation retreats and festivals around Devon and Somerset. It was a real adventure: trusting the universe to protect and support me, and allowing myself to let go of past negative experiences.
On New Year’s Eve, I boarded a plane to Delhi and travelled north, into the Himalayas, with the intention to sort out my relationship with Buddhism. While staying at Root Institute, a Buddhist meditation retreat centre in Bodh-Gaya, I found some answers. Then I began tracing my absent father’s family and discovering who they were.
Putting together a family tree helped me form a spiritual connection with my absent father and accept him into my life. As I discovered my distant ancestral family, I also found my Celtic Irish roots. The transition from Buddhism to embracing my Celtic identity was profound and enlightening.
I took some time out and headed to South Goa for a month, hoping to absorb this newly discovered family history and make sense of what it meant to me. Finding a whole new family is a powerful experience, and one that needs time to digest.
When I returned to Devon, I took the DNA test I’d been waiting to do and discovered even more about my identity. The results showed that I’m 77% Celtic, with Irish, Welsh, Scottish and Breton ancestry.
I carried on as a nomad, but this time on my own, trying to work out where I was heading in life and looking for somewhere to settle. My mother’s and father’s roots are in Ireland, so you might think I’d have set sail there. But no—the pull brought me to Wales, to Haverfordwest, a place where I want to settle.
There’s a book of the lore to be written over the winter, and I’m on a tight schedule to have it finished by next spring. Through my research, I’ve found many links that help explain why I chose Haverfordwest. Now that I’m here, I feel comfortable and healthy, physically, mentally and spiritually.
I’m looking for a quiet sanctuary to share with a like-minded person or people, where I can get the lore written.
